The Complete Wedding
Our Kawartha Region is one of the premium locations in Ontario for weddings. Spring, summer, fall or winter, couples come to the Kawarthas for the beautiful scenery, plenty of reliable wedding services and no road traffic to jeopardize the day's schedule. Whether a couple are using one of the Kawartha's beautiful lakeside resorts, or they use their own private cottage, year after year they keep coming here. Since we are located only 90 minutes north-east of the Greater Toronto Area, weddings commonly take place all year round for both local and out-of-town guests. In the spring and summer months, couples love the relaxed vacation feel for their wedding experience. In the fall, couples love the colourful landscapes and in the winter, the frozen lakes and snow-covered trees make for some stunning backdrops.
One important consideration for couples who plan their wedding in the Kawarthas is the availability of high quality vendors. Since the wedding industry is so strong in our area there is a diverse selection of seasoned photographers, DJs, Officiants, live musicians, caterers, florists and wedding planners. Many vendors have gained their experience working for years in larger urban areas. By migrating to the Kawartha region they add rural experience to their portfolio to create a well-rounded service provider. This means that many are comfortable dealing with multiple clients with different sized weddings. Last minute changes become second nature and many can address unexpected issues with ease.
Here are a few tips when reviewing businesses that offer wedding services, regardless of where the wedding will take place.
- After you have confirmed a service is available for your date, schedule a face-to-face meeting. First impressions are important. Ask the business how long they have been working in the wedding industry and how many weddings they do each year. Ask for references. Personal feedback and word of mouth are the best forms of advertising for a successful business.
- When visiting a business, ask to see samples of their past work. When talking to a florist, ask to see pictures of past clients' floral arrangements. When meeting with a photographer, ask to see samples of their past work and when the work was done. Also ask an assortment of questions on how they prep for the wedding, how they engage your guests on the day and how they complete your images after the wedding day is over. Asking to see the photographer’s past work and the stories behind why they are showing you certain images helps to ensure they are showing you their work and not images that they simply downloaded off of the internet.
- Caterers often offer free meal samples. This can be a great way to ensure the presentation and taste are what you want. When choosing a caterer, ask how many staff will be serving to ensure they have enough to handle your guest list and if they can accommodate vegetarian and gluten free requirements. Usually you can get a feeling if the business is right for you or not within the first 5 minutes of a face-to-face meeting.
The Kawarthas is truly a fantastic location to have your wedding. With the stunning natural scenery, friendly people and experienced professional wedding service providers, you won't regret coming here for your dream wedding.
